Debbie Henderson
Clinical Psychologist
(Mondays 3:00 to 7:30 pm; Wednesdays 8:30 am to 5:30 pm)
I first qualified as a psychologist over 20 years ago.Since that time, I have worked in the corporate setting, public and private health settings, and the school environment. I have worked with a variety of people, from CEOs of top 100 companies to hospitalised clients with long term mental health issues. Clinically I have worked in high schools, eating disorder clinics, hospitals and private practice. Currently, on the days I am not at work at Glenorie, I work as a consultant clinical psychologist to one of the world’s leading health care providers.
I believe that at the heart of any behaviour change is a respectful relationship. I love hearing people’s life stories and enjoy working with them to help them to implement change. I enjoy a good rapport with teenagers through to some of my more senior clients – and I love the diversity of the clients I see at Glenorie. I utilise a diverse range of therapy techniques, but most commonly CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy), ACT (Acceptance Commitment Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy). Schema Therapy and supportive counselling.
I have both a Masters in Clinical Psychology and a Masters in Organisational Psychology. I have registrations with Medicare, SIRA (to allow therapy through workers compensation – if eligible), AHPRA and am a member of the Australian Psychological Society. When not working I enjoy hanging out with my husband, three teenage children and two dogs.
